I have started creating AR filters for Instagram! When I found out that Facebook has opened up the AR filter creation tool to the public I immediately focused on learning the Spark AR platform inside out. I have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design so learning was relatively straightforward and very exciting. I had long been mesmerized by Snapchat filters and their ability to change our features and smooth our skin so perfectly but I didn’t always like the way they changed my facial features so to be able to create my own version was so satisfying.
My filters work a lot like the makeup looks I create for my instagram. Since Facebook banned the use of facial deformation which is basically changing the features of a persons face much like plastic surgery does (smaller nose, bigger eyes, larger lips etc) I have been focused on finding ways to use shading and makeup to create fun and beautiful effects for my followers.
